Benue State warmly received the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Dr. Amina J. Mohammed, GCON, during her official tour of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) settlements and the reopening of Yelewata Market.
A standout feature of the visit was the exceptional performance of the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Mrs. Theresa Odachi Ikwue. The Ministry organized a public exhibition of naturally packaged products derived from women-led empowerment initiatives, highlighting tangible progress in self-reliance and economic recovery among vulnerable groups.
The tour underscored ongoing humanitarian efforts in the state and the strategic role of local women’s entrepreneurship in building sustainable peace and resilience.
